The Browns capped off their third and final draft without a first-round pick following the . Coming off a surprise run to the playoffs and a heartbreaking blowout in the AFC wild card game, the Browns were looking for a way to bolster depth and round out one of the most talented rosters on paper in the NFL.While draft picks at certain positions tend to signal the end of a player's tenure at a team, much of what Cleveland did in this draft was to shore up positions that are simply getting older with young talent. Here are the biggest Julian Love Jersey winners and losers on the Browns' roster.BROWNS 2024 NFL DRAFT:|WinnersCB Greg Newsome IIWhether the rumors of Greg Newsome getting traded were just offseason fodder or a reality, it should be no coincidence that the Browns picked up Newsome's fifth-year option mere days following the completion of the draft. The former first-round pick blo somed into one of the strongest aspects of an overhauled Cleveland defense under coordinator Jim Schwartz. And with so much money tied up in Watson and other contracts (and a flurry of contract restructurings occupying general manager Andrew Berry's time), it was unclear if the Browns front office saw Newsome as a long-term fit at cornerback. But whether it was how the draft shook out or if the Browns felt safe with their personnel at cornerback, Cleveland didn't select a player at that position until the seventh round. Myles Harden out of South Dakota is certainly an experienced and solid cornerback, but his footwork is slow and he got in trouble creating too much separation, even at a smaller school.Aside from Martin Emerson Jr. and the occasional performance from Cameron Mitchell, no one has really stood out on the Browns roster that pairs well opposite Denzel Ward. So if the Browns see Newsome as someone who they can lock up long-term, not opting for a cornerback early was a smart move. If not, he's a top-end defender at one of the highest-paid positions in the NFL heading into a contract year. The running back roomThe decision to not draft a running back in what looked to be a strong cla s on Day 3 pretty much hinges on what Nick Chubb looks like following his second major knee reconstructive surgery. Behind him, Jerome Ford is certainly replaceable and hasn't cemented himself as a go-to back. D'Onta Foreman and Nyheim Hines were free agents for a reason, both heading into their seventh year in the NFL. John Kelly Jr. and Pierre Strong Jr. might just be relegated to the practice squad or special teams. There was talk that the team might take a stab at someone like Audric Estime in the fourth or fifth round to add a clear option that could take Chubb's place next year. Apparently, they feel good enough about the six guys in the room right now. To sing in a talented rookie to an already overcrowded room would have all but guaranteed the end of a few guys' tenures in Cleveland, but for now, they're all at least safe to grind it out through the preseason with hopes of latching Evan Engram Jersey on as a special teamer.WR Elijah MooreMoore is another example of someone with Cleveland whose future with the club is incredibly uncertain. After the team gave up a second-round pick in 2023 to bring in a young receiver that they felt could fit into a gadget role on offense, Moore put up 640 yards on 59 receptions with two touchdowns. Not amazing, but not terrible. But once again, the Browns have yet to figure out a contract situation with him, leaving Moore in flux heading into the 2024 season. as he develops and learns the NFL. He's fast, but has been docked for his somewhat average athletic profile. And in the fifth round, it's clear the Browns were more comfortable taking a flier on a project than spending a second-round pick on someone they likely would have factored into the rotation early on.For now, this move doesn't hurt Moore's chances to stay with Cleveland past this season. That is, if he and the coaching staff can carve out a role for him. This pick throws guys like David Bell and Cedric Tillman onto the hot seat but shows that the Browns are serious about making Moore work out in this offense.OT Jack ConklinThe Browns believe that you can never have too many offensive linemen. That motto specifically came to fruition in 2023 when nearly every starting lineman mi sed significant time and they had to piecemeal together a starting five. With a group like that, it's always imperative to keep building depth and ensuring that when someone goes down you're not picking off the scrap heap for extremely key positions that guard a quarterback in Watson that hasn't lived up to his contract yet.Conklin is the clearest example of why the Browns wanted to stockpile linemen, and there were already serious questions about if he'd be with the team in 2024. After playing in part of just one game last year, Conklin is now 30 years old and coming off another injury that led to him mi sing significant time.Though he's listed as a guard, the Browns absolutely drafted Zak Zinter with the goal of him fitting in at all the positions on the line. Conklin is now faced with seeing his time end in Cleveland or being left completely out of the starting lineup and relegated to a rotational role.LinebackersDrafting a linebacker in the sixth round is one thing. Bringing in three undrafted free agents at that position within a week of the draft ending is another. And it shows that while there are plenty of contributors Cleveland used this past year, they're really unsure about the underbelly of the position. Aside fromJeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Jordan Hicks, and Devin Bush, everyone is thrown into competition for who makes the team, especially considering that Cleveland might opt to keep an extra safety over a sixth linebacker. There's a chance sixth-rounder Nathaniel Watson doesn't impre s and comes out on the wrong end of a roster crunch come August. But his mere presence, along with that of Winston Reid, Chris Edmonds and Dyshan Gales, means that the Browns could be looking at an overhaul at the position.Tony Fields impre sed at times this past year, but the Browns could look to shed his contract (even though it's not exorbitant) to make ends meet at another spot. Caleb Johnson and Charlie Thomas III are two guys coming off unimpre sive rookie seasons and could see themselves on the Xavier McKinney Jersey chopping block if Watson and other rookie free agents show promise.
